Having spent 15 years in marketing and running a digital ad tech company, I didn't expect the pandemic-induced lockdown to cause much damage to the online world. After all, digital had no lockdown. I anticipated a few hiccups, but that's about it. But I think I was in for a big surprise. While nothing stopped digital traffic from growing, supply chain disruptions and just the fact that consumer patterns were changing that caused marketers to reduce their ad spends. As a result, demand was impacted for all ad tech firms. During downtimes, most companies got the opportunity to enhance their products, solutions in preparation of lockdown world. And I don't think it was any different for me.
I spent time creating innovations while staying on the right side of consumer sensibilities during the time of crisis. When restrictions were eased, I think it just became a lot more easier to bounce back for me. On the other end, which is life at Tripper FiFi, another company where I consult, which offers international roaming hotspot devices and data. There, because of business and leisure travel was abruptly paused, the downtime there gave us an opportunity to reflect on our target audience, keeping in mind how travel will evolve in the months to come. We identified some new market segments, we strengthened the reach there. And then more importantly, what
really benefited us is in pushing for sales, we thought about why don't we knock on doors virtually and learn about customer problems in each segment. So while international travel is yet to pick up, I believe today we are better equipped to close deals with a diverse group of potential customers.
