IP07 · TIMELESS RULES

Durable tests for the work.

The biggest challenge I think which all of us faced and we definitely did was business continuity. And when I say business continuity, just imagine an organization we've completed 30 years and we have some set practices, we have some set methodologies. That was what was producing success for our clients. And if that had to go through some minor changes, improvements, technological environment, all of that is good. That's far for the course, it happens on a daily basis. In fact, that's what annual plans are about. Okay, what are we going to do this year? Who are we getting on board? Who are we giving up and what technologies are we embracing? So this was something which was happening. But here was something which completely ground

business to a standstill. And suddenly we found this whole epiphany of work from home. It's sexy, but it made no business sense. There was no interaction. There was the mind, the biochemistry of sitting in a room and talking to people and cracking that campaign or cracking the strategy or cracking the analytics just does not happen. And learning that was also very difficult because we were not in a classroom being tutored together. So all our learning has been, let's go to a seminar, learn together and come back. Let's get an expert, learn in the office and then move on. Now each one had to do their own thing. So I think as a bandmaster it was well nigh possible. I'll give you one

example of where we converted the challenge into an absolute opportunity and came through winning. So I think as a team, we have a vertical which is focused on direct marketing platform for manufacturers of building materials to reach professional architects and as a natural extension, students of architecture. The previous year, previous to the pandemic, these students of architecture in the top 20 colleges across India, which is 14 cities, saw a kind of a roadshow from the team, the management team, and we took seven brands, stellar brands, very, very big marquee brands to these campuses. And it was a day long orgy of information. This was denied to the students who were passing out last year because the colleges were not functional.

No one was going there. And we could not connect to the brands because they had disappeared. They were all at home. We didn't know where home was. There was no workplace to reach them out at. It was quite difficult. But I'm happy to say what happened was we created the Locator Online Classroom. And it isn't a Zoom call. It wasn't just a one-to-one connect. It was an absolute day-long equivalent event of, I think, 48,000 minutes was the total viewing time we managed to register. There's some 3,000 interactions with these brands and all of this live with students sitting at home, brands sitting, some of them in Dibrugar, because guys had gone home. They fled the cities to work from home, wherever they could be comfortable. So I've had brand presenters

from far out remote places. There was one who was actually on the road waiting for his car to arrive. And the students were doing a live Q&A. So he took the technology. We thanked for that. He did it from the road. And we had this one cyclist going behind. I said, well, that's a cute shot. Let's keep it. I said, well, I'm not sure what happened. But anyway, it's like, so win-win-win. Students absolutely loved it because they could really focus on what was happening. And in case they missed it, they could always go back to it on YouTube. The brands loved it because they actually saw the live interaction, as I told you, 3,000 exchanges as they were happening, questions being asked fired at them. And the

colleges, they said, like, thank God, we have a mandate from the government saying, you have to go digital. They were grappling with how to teach students digital. And here was one platform ready-made for them. It helped. It worked.
