The durable question is how marketing judgement should improve relevance without losing sight of relevance.
Source signal, edited only for readability.
Three takeaways worth carrying forward.
- 01
Read marketing judgement as the primary operating question in this record.
- 02
Test its connection to relevance and trust against the speaker’s reasoning in the transcript.
- 03
Keep the 2021 source context visible before carrying the lesson into a current decision.
What the transcript puts on the table.
Because the thing is that when you are surrounded with such immense knowledge base, there is nothing to do but soak in everything.
Every time I'm over there at any DMA conference, any DMA meet, it's me constantly soaking in what everyone is actually telling me.
Maybe sometimes impart some of your knowledge which you've actually had over the years.
Original context. Current reading.
Recorded in 2021, this captures the language, platforms and constraints of its time. Read it now by separating those period-specific details from the enduring operating question: how should relevance and trust improve the decision?
Durable tests for the work.
- Start from the customer’s situation, not the channel.
- Make the promise visible and the proof inspectable.
What would you keep, change or measure differently if this leadership reflection were put to work now?

Honestly, to me, it's a learning experience. Every time I'm over there at any DMA conference, any DMA meet, it's me constantly soaking in what everyone is actually telling me. Because the thing is that when you are surrounded with such immense knowledge base, there is nothing to do but soak in everything. And maybe sometimes impart some of your knowledge which you've actually had over the years. But I still believe that there's a hell of a lot for me to soak in then for me to actually. So to me, it's always been one of education and I highly respect the whole body and love to actually have these interactions with you guys all the time.
